Liz Mosher Obituary,Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies Mourns Loss of longest serving shelter volunteers

The Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies family mourns the passing of Liz Mosher, one of our longest-serving and most beloved volunteers. For many, many years, Liz, alongside her partner Shirley, was a dedicated fixture, meticulously cleaning the dog and cat areas to ensure comfort for our animals.

After Shirley’s passing, Liz’s commitment never wavered. She continued her vital work in the cat room, where her presence became a Tuesday morning treasure. Staff and volunteers were always greeted by Liz’s smiling face as she washed dishes or mopped floors, her sweet demeanor and fun sense of humor brightening the entire shelter. She shared a special camaraderie with fellow volunteer Brenda Burton, their happy chats filling the cat rooms with warmth.

Remarkably self-reliant, Liz was still volunteering at age 90, accustomed to doing things for herself with quiet determination. While health issues sadly ended her volunteer service in 2025, she remained a cherished friend to many in our shelter community.

We will miss Liz profoundly. Her decades of steadfast dedication, gentle hands, and loving heart created a better world for countless shelter animals. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones and express our eternal gratitude for her beautiful legacy of service.
