David Kuhns Wooster,OH Obituary,Death––Wooster Mourns the Loss of David L. Kuhns in Tragic Route 30 Crash
WOOSTER, OH — The community is grappling with the sudden loss of David L. “Dave” Kuhns, 61, who passed away this morning in a tragic multi-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 30. The fatal crash occurred near the intersection with State Route 511 in Vermillion Township around 6 a.m. on Friday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Dave was driving a Ford transit van westbound when the collision occurred. A northbound Dodge Dart failed to stop at a stop sign on SR 511 and was struck by an eastbound semi-truck. The impact caused the semi-truck to cross the median into westbound lanes, where it collided with Dave’s van.
David Kuhns was pronounced deceased at the scene. A juvenile passenger in his van was life-flighted to a Mansfield hospital with serious injuries. Another Wooster man, 23-year-old Malachi James Harley John Whitehead, driver of the Dodge Dart, was also killed.

Authorities confirm that alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors. All occupants were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation by the Ashland Post of the OSHP.
Dave Kuhns, a longtime resident of Wooster, is remembered by friends and family as a kind and dependable man. His unexpected passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. The community extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time, while also holding the injured passenger and all affected families in their thoughts.
